Songs About Cheating On Your Man Or Woman

BPMc3 has had this theme on his list for some time. So away we go… songs about cheating — whether first person or 3rd. Play them!

And if you’re not doing anything this evening, check out the Chester Springs Studio Holiday Art Sale put together by the Mrs:

Each year, Chester Springs Studio’s Holiday Fine Arts and Craft Sale offers a wide array of quality handcrafted items for purchase including pottery, woodworking, jewelry, paintings, and fabric arts. Location.
Opening Reception: Friday, November 21, 6-9 p.m.

by the way: Prof. Finnin requested a tropical beach theme earlier in the week in light of our cold weather and his departure for Aruba (or somewhere like that). Until this morning’s commute in I thought I’d hold that one for January. Now after this morning’s commute, I’m still going to hold it ‘til January. As Dr. Brown is wont to say: “Bite me”, Prof Finnin — enjoy the beach while we deal with the slush.

The horrible chester county snow panic of 2008.
Songs About The Military

In recognition of Veterans Day this week post songs about — being in, losing someone in, being a victim of, and so on — the military.

And if you can spare some change, consider heading on over to the Fisher House to contribue to this worthy cause:

Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

Fisher House is top-rated by Charity Navigator and CharityWatch.org.

“It that time of year again…time to say “Thank You” to all our friends and customers.

We are working hard to transform the Brewery into a Winter Wonderland so gather your friends and family and start the holiday season with us.

There will be beer - of course - snacks and Santa!

This year, in the spirit of giving, we are asking everyone to bring a donation for Flat Iron Wildcats, an organization in our neighborhood that is dedicated to controlling the stray population and dedicated to finding loving forever homes for homeless kitties.

Robyn Hitchcock - My Wife & My Dead Wife

Wanted to use this for Halloween’s Friday Record Party and for last week’s as well — my favorite single Robyn Hitchcock song off the live Gotta Let This Hen Out album. I think that was the first live album — after Frampton Comes Alive — where I fell for a band based on the live act and the studio stuff seemed to fall short after that.

Robyn Hitchcock plays the World Cafe Live 11/19. There’s still good table seats on the floor available. Robyn’s touring doing an acoustic show.

And if you are looking for Album-of-the-Day — the LaLa widget maker seems to be broken for embedding full albums. I’ll keep an eye on that and if they get it working, we’ll resume albums of the day.

Free MP3 Album Download from Amazon.

The Ogre needs to be aware of the new Change.gov site for the transition.

It’s pretty cool that the Obama-Biden team are following up on the victory with a transparency-style website dedicated to the transition — as opposed to the usual press release/spokesperson talking head route.

Back before he started running for Prez, Obama used to have a period podcast he would do as Senator that would explain the issues up in front of congress and his position on them. They were 15 minute informative plain-talking insights into the way he was thinking about the issues. I look forward to more of that from an in-touch president.

You can even apply for a job in the new administration.

Friday Record Party: One

Your One-and-Only Favorite Song by an Artist/Band

Friday Record Party newcomer, Lester, suggested this concept this week. Lester suggested yesterday’s Album of the Day and I figured we’d honor him further by using his FRP idea as well.

Here’s the concept:

Pick an artist

pick your ONE AND ONLY most favorite song by that artist. You can only pick one song per artist.

Once an artist has been posted others may only pick their one-and-only favorite from that artist (assuming you disagree with the original poster’s choice — and that’s usually what goes on here at the record party).

Bottom line - one song per artist per FRP participant.

As always, support your choice with logic (BPMCG) or no logic (ME).

Yma Sumac (via Calliopeice)

Saw a mention on Dr. Brown’s Facebook page about Yma Sumac and followed up to find out the Yma Sumac passed away this week.

I must confess that I don’t know the lady but after a listen to this song and others, I don’t know why. She looks and sounds right up The Ogre’s alley and mine. (I particularly appreciated that Nina Hagen was high on Sumac’s friends list on MySpace page. Memo to myself: see if we can do Nina Hagen for album of the day.)

Buck Crashes the Party at QVC in West Chester | NBC Philadelphia

Buck Crashes the Party at QVC in West Chester | NBC Philadelphia: Click through the link to see helicopter-worthy news footage of the tarp-covered deer being carried out a back door in West Chester.

Recent new visitor and now Friday Record Party Regular, Lester, offered up this album as worthy of an Album-of-the-Day for the Ogre: “probably one of the finest ever first albums…Elvis Costello My Aim is True.”

I know BPMc3 will be all over this. I credit my Montana sister, E=MC(G), with bringing Elvis into the Ship Rd household back in 1977. 31 years later and the new King holds up all too well.

Easily, three or four songs off this album have made showings on various Friday Record Parties.

Lester, we will hoist a beer to Elvis and your fine taste at Grady David’s Friday night.
